Looking at Mount Moran in Grand Teton National Par $Looking at Mount Moran in Grand Teton National Park and the rugged beauty of the CMC route as it ascends the mountain’s imposing east face. A thick blanket of snow clings to the steep granite walls, softening the mountain’s sharp features while highlighting the dramatic ridgelines. Between the East and West Horns, the Falling Ice Glacier emerges through the snow—a jagged, frozen blue mass contrasting starkly with the surrounding white expanse. The glacier’s fractured surface hints at the dynamic forces at play beneath the snow, with deep crevasses and icefalls partially visible. The CMC Route was first climbed in 1941 by a group from the Chicago Mountaineering Club (CMC), after whom the route is named. It remains the most popular and standard ascent of the mountain, offering a technical yet non-glaciated path to the summit. The route follows a long approach via Leigh Canyon, then ascends a series of ledges and ramps on the mountain’s southeast face, with Class 4 and low Class 5 climbing. Despite being the easiest way up Mount Moran, the CMC Route is still a serious alpine undertaking, requiring significant route-finding and endurance due to its remote location** and the **lack of a maintained trail. Climbers often use canoes to cross String and Leigh Lakes, adding to the adventure. The route has become a classic in the Teton climbing community, known for its **challenging yet rewarding ascent, stunning views, and historical significance.$

Backcountry snowboarders trek toward the iconic Grand Teton in Grand Teton National Park. Backcountry skiing is one of my favorite things to do and certainly my favorite mode of transportation. It's very physically challenging and therefore rewarding and I love seeing my favorite terrain in
covered in snow.

Did you know that skis have been used for thousands of years, with archaeological evidence suggesting they date back at least 8,000–10,000 years. Early skis, made from wood, were used by ancient peoples in Scandinavia, Russia, and China for hunting and transportation across snowy terrain. Notably, the invention of skis predates the wheel, which is believed to have been developed around 3,500 BC.

A young mule deer buck tentatively explores the Dornan's Spur Ranch Cabins in Moose, WY, taking cautious steps forward before bounding away with graceful ease. His antlers, covered in soft velvet, are a sign of his youth and vitality. As he feeds on the lush grasses, he reveals his true beauty, a symbol of the unspoiled wilderness of Grand Teton National Park. The buck's presence reminds us of the importance of preserving our natural heritage for generations to come.

I spent a breathtaking night on the shores of Jenn

I spent a breathtaking night on the shores of Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park to capture the serene beauty of this glacially-carved body of water beneath a sky teeming with stars. The Milky Way's luminous bands reflected in the still, mirror-like surface of the lake. The jagged peaks of the Teton Range, silhouetted against the starlit sky, add to the scene's dramatic majesty. The lake’s pristine waters glisten under the soft glow of celestial light, while the faint outline of evergreens along the shoreline enhances the sense of wilderness and solitude.

Jenny Lake is one of the most picturesque spots in Grand Teton National Park, and was formed over 12,000 years ago by glaciers that carved out the deep basin now filled with crystal-clear mountain water. The lake is named after Jenny Leigh, a Shoshone woman who was the wife of Richard “Beaver Dick” Leigh, a British-American trapper and guide. The couple played a significant role in early expeditions of the region in the late 19th century. Tragically, Jenny and her children succumbed to smallpox in 1876, but her name lives on in this stunning natural landmark. Today, Jenny Lake is a popular destination for hiking, kayaking, and boat tours, offering some of the most spectacular views in the Tetons.

The Geminids Meteor Shower over Grand Teton Nation

The Geminids Meteor Shower over Grand Teton National Park is a dazzling celestial display, with bright, multicolored meteors streaking across the night sky above the rugged Teton Range. Known for their intensity and vibrant hues—often white, yellow, green, or even blue—the Geminids appear to rain down like cosmic fire, illuminating the snow-dusted peaks and deep valleys of the park.

Against the backdrop of the jagged mountains, the meteors leave brilliant trails that seem to shimmer before fading into the inky darkness. Their reflections dance on the surface of Jackson Lake and the Snake River, creating a surreal, mirror-like effect that enhances the spectacle. The crisp winter air carries an eerie silence, broken only by the imagined whispers of these ancient space travelers as they burn through Earth’s atmosphere.

At its peak, the Geminids can produce over 100 meteors per hour, transforming the sky into a living tapestry of shooting stars. Whether viewed from a secluded meadow, a frozen lakeshore, or a snowy ridge, the sight of the Geminids cascading over the Tetons is nothing short of magical—an unforgettable collision of cosmic wonder and wild, untouched beauty.
