The Lower Falls of the Yellowstone plunge nearly 300 feet into the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and in winter the scene becomes something entirely different. Ice builds along the rim, steam rises from the river below, and snow softens the rugged canyon walls—yet the roar of the falls reminds you just how powerful this place is.

Photographed yesterday in deep winter conditions, this image captures that contrast Yellowstone does so well: raw force surrounded by quiet, frozen beauty. It’s one of those moments where the cold is worth every second just to witness the transformation.

That's almost a wrap on Moose Monday here in the Tetons, I hope you had a good one! This magnificent bull moose stood quietly in the sagebrush as fall colors peaked in Grand Teton National Park, his massive antlers glowing in the soft September light.

Bull moose grow these enormous antlers every year — some spanning over six feet wide — and autumn is when they’re at their most powerful and photogenic. Same moment, two different crops: wide scene vs. intimate portrait. Which do you prefer?

Morning light kisses the rugged walls of Cascade Canyon and dances across the surface of Jenny Lake, creating a mix of soft golds, cool blues, and winter shadows. Fresh snow clings to the granite peaks, amplifying the contrast of warm sunrise tones against the cold stillness of the lake.

In this late fall/early winter scene, the Tetons feel both massive and peaceful—towering above the valley while the shoreline stones fade into the crystal-clear water. It captures that fleeting moment when night transitions into day and the mountains begin to glow.
